Kit Ryan's mildly humorous comedic farce Botched (aka 13) falls into a category I like to call "Corridor Horror," a subgenre which generally involves a handful of individuals running stupidly through various hallways and passages for roughly 90 minutes. As such, this particular outing is a perfect example of what not to do with your cinematic ambitions, especially if you want anyone with half a brain to take your career seriously in the not so distant future. Stephen Dorff, the poor bastard, seems to have stumbled upon this production completely by accident, and his performance suffers because of it. Sure, the picture has a few fleeting moments of crude violence and chuckle-worthy humor, but the shinier bits are often obscured by the film's podunk cast and some genuinely pathetic special effects. For a perfect example of the latter, please direct your attention one character's unexpected third reel amputation. This is the sort of painfully unattractive production you'd expect from the guys who run the haunted house at your grandmother's country church every Halloween. Besides, any flick that wastes Sean Pertwee is a stain on this planet. Botched, I'm afraid, wears its title a little too well.
Recipe For Disaster: No Laughs + No Suspense + Ivan The Terrible? What?
Horror Comedy No-Nos: Never cast Stephen Dorff in a role that requires him to be the least bit funny.
Didn't anyone else watch Cecil B. Demented?

1 Spasms:
you missed the point, this is a silly movie and was meant to be your just unimaginative and lack sense of humour
