Produced by action cinema guru Prachya Pinkaew and helmed by Evil director Chukiat Sakveerakul, 13 Beloved is perhaps one of the strongest efforts to emerge from Thailand's budding film industry thus far. The premise isn't exactly groundbreaking -- a man plays a mysterious game via his cellphone in hopes of collecting a huge cash reward -- but the execution couldn't be smarter. In addition to being completely entertaining, 13 Beloved is also genuinely gripping, poignant, and funny without slipping into a sickening vat of pointless comedy. Every contrasting element has been deftly blended together for maximum satisfaction, even when things start to take a sinister turn for the worse during the second half of the picture. Star Krissada Terrence (The Adventures of Iron Pussy) is phenomenal, delivering the type of well-balanced performance that would immediately turn Johnny Depp's flawless American skin to a sickly shade of green. The icing on this delicious slice of sadistic cinema is the film's knockout conclusion: it's the kind of twist that should leave everyone properly shocked and deeply awed. How ruthlessly rare is that? If Tartan doesn't have this title lined up for acquisition, I do believe it's time I kicked down their front doors and gave them a piece of my insignificant little mind.

Public Transportation Etiquette: If a random group of thugs has possession of your property, do not bow at their feet.
Instead, beat them senseless with thick slabs of meat.

Wow, that sounds great! Mind if I ask how you got to see it? If Tartan hasn't released it yet, I doubt I'll be seeing it any time soon.
And thanks for the link. :)
A friend was kind enough to pick up several bootlegs of various foreign flicks during his last trip abroad, hence my recent reviews for Black House, Botched, 13 Beloved, and Art of Fighting. Expect a lot of Thai, Korean, and Hong Kong reviews over the next few weeks.
And there's no need to thank me for the link -- your site is all sorts of cool.
